History

Starting in the 16th century

500 years of entrepreneurial history

For more than 500 years in the German-speaking region, the Schoeller family has consistently achieved pioneering industrial accomplishments across diverse sectors such as iron processing, textiles, paper manufacturing, sugar production, mills, breweries, banking, logistics, recycling, and emerging industries.

Entrepreneurs from different branches of the family have been active in these fields, establishing new businesses in almost every generation. Some enterprises even sourced raw materials from their own agricultural production. By the early 19th century, many goods were already integrated into the family network. Notably, women within the family have played a significant role in founding impactful social institutions.

Throughout the centuries and irrespective of religious or political boundaries, the Schoellers have maintained a unified identity, characterized by mutual support. This profound sense of belonging and a robust entrepreneurial spirit rooted in tradition have consistently fostered renewal. Despite their global presence and involvement in diverse professions, family members, bound by their shared association, continue to stand together as a cohesive and expansive family unit even in the present day.
